Jonathan Cook

Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer at Excelerate Energy, Jonathan Cook has responsibility for the implementation of the operations, technical and administrative initiatives of the company.  As one of the founders of Excelerate Energy, Jon initially held the position of Vice President of Operations where he managed the commercial negotiations of the contracts for the Energy Bridge FSRUs, the construction oversight, and fleet operations. 

Before joining Excelerate Energy, Jon worked in El Paso’s Global LNG division, where he was responsible for negotiating LNG-related shipping contracts, including long-term time charters and various aspects of the marine logistics related to El Paso’s offshore LNG receiving terminal development.

Jon has more than twenty-five years of experience in the marine transportation and energy industries.  His previous experience consists of managing the commercial activities of the marine department of The Coastal Corp, where Jon was responsible for the chartering and voyage operations teams. Prior to that, Jon spent over eight years employed onboard various merchant vessels where he earned an Unlimited Master Mariner’s license as Master Upon Oceans with Unlimited Tonnage.

Jon graduated from Texas A&M University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Transportation.
