Overview
Our company’s proprietary dockside LNG receiving terminal technology – the GasPort– is the shoreside application of our floating regasification technology. GasPorts provide a fast and flexible LNG import solution with a typical project timeline of approximately 12 months from investment decision to operation, depending on location-specific characteristics and infrastructure requirements. With a significantly lower capital cost than a traditional, land-based terminal and minimal environmental impact, leading to simpler and faster project permitting, our GasPorts provide a highly flexible LNG receiving terminal solution, allowing for rapid response to changing downstream demand conditions.
How It Works
A GasPort incorporates our jetty-mounted, articulated, high-pressure gas-offloading arm and uses our proprietary Energy Bridge® floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to convert LNG back into natural gas to send to market. Our specialized, purpose-built FSRU is moored at a GasPort and can quickly and safely discharge regasified LNG with a great degree of flexibility. These FSRUs can deliver regasified LNG at pipeline pressure at flow rates ranging from 50 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d) to 800 MMscf/d, providing quick and convenient access to incremental gas supplies. The gas throughput capacity of our GasPorts can also be increased to meet the larger regasification capacities of future generations of the Energy Bridge® brand FSRUs.
LNG supplies are delivered to our FSRUs through periodic transfers from traditional LNG carriers in accordance with our STS LNG transfer protocol. The regasification of LNG continues uninterrupted throughout the STS LNG transfer procedure, ensuring a continuous supply of gas to the local market.
Advantages
A GasPort can be configured in several ways to best meet the exact demands of a project and can also be integrated with existing infrastructure. We have a range of fully engineered generic GasPort solutions that can be readily tailored to specific opportunities to reduce the time required for front-end engineering design. In addition, we have invested in, and keep stock of, all key long-lead GasPort equipment to reduce the construction schedule and ensure that we can deliver truly fast-track LNG importation solutions. We also work with trusted key suppliers and incorporate modular construction into our process. This reduces compatibility risks and further shortens lead time.
With four such facilities in operation, our company is the world leader in shoreside floating regasification solutions. In fact, many of our LNG regasification solutions have become the industry standard. Our experience allows us to rapidly execute projects safely, efficiently, on time and on budget.
